How to Use the Rivet Nut Size Calculator
- Enter the hole diameter. Type the drilled hole size in the Hole Diameter field.
- Enter material thickness. Type the sheet/panel thickness in the Material Thickness field.
- Select a thread size. Choose from Metric (M3–M12) or Imperial (6-32 to 5/8-11). The calculator updates units automatically.
- Review the live preview. You’ll see:
- Hole Range, Grip Range, Torque Range, Body Type
- Your Thickness with grip range
- Click “Calculate Size”. The tool confirms the best match or tells you what to adjust.
- (Optional) Download PDF. When a valid match is found, use Download PDF Specs to save a printable spec sheet.
Units: Selecting an imperial thread (e.g., 1/4-20)
switches inputs to inches (in). Selecting a metric thread (e.g., M6)
uses millimeters (mm).
Tips for best results
- Keep your hole size within the previewed Hole Range for the selected thread.
- Ensure your material thickness falls inside the Grip Range (watch for ✅ in the preview).
- Confirm installation torque on a scrap panel to avoid spin-out; use knurled or hex bodies for higher resistance.
